The Colosseum Tour Review:
The Colosseum is one of the most iconic ancient landmarks in the world. Unfortunately, some parts of the outer walls have collapsed during an earthquake, hence the unique structure. Despite that, there is still lots of leftover history to explore and get a sense of experience in the days of the “Gladiators”. This landmark’s exterior is stunning and completely unique, so it is great to get a closer look inside this world-renowned attraction.
You can’t help but be mesmerised with the overall architecture, however, information on the lower areas was missing. These parts are now just grass and it was a slight let-down that there was no public access allowed there. This is a popular attraction, in which you’re very likely to wait a long time to get in. An official guided tour is the best option as there are guides that speak fluent English and show you around, incorporating lots of knowledge. There is also an audio tour which is just as good but without a guide’s personal touch.
A standard ticket also provides admission to the ancient Roman Ruins in the Forum and at Palatine Hill so don’t lose your ticket. Just make sure you don’t pay twice not realising it is included in the Colosseum ticket.
Top Tip: If you take the audio tour or an official guided tour which costs about 4 Euros extra, this also means you are able to skip the queue to get in at the entrance.
