Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Review

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Review

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order delivers to rejuvenate the Star Wars Game Franchise, based off the mixed reviews from the recent Battlefront games. The game is an all-single player experience in which you play the role of Cal Kestis, a Padawan who survived Order 66 in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Order 66 killed nearly all Jedi, but Cal managed to survive and will have to complete his Jedi training before Inquisitors discover his plans to rebuild the Jedi Order. Developed by Respawn Entertainment (Titanfall) and published by EA, Fallen Order lives up to the hopes of fans and provides a unique experience, as part of the Star Wars Universe.

This single-player experience combines action, adventure and exploration across multiple vast planets which you can travel to on your ship, adding an open world type element. the story is well-thought-through with perfect storytelling to immerse the player in the game. Fallen Order is a challenging game with immense combat situations that test your ability as a Jedi. No matter what difficulty you can expect a challenge or two whether that is combat or various puzzles in tombs across the universe. On your journey, Cal is accompanied with BD-1, a small droid that helps with navigation, combat and exploration, while resting on Cal’s shoulders. The game will “force” you to delve into exploring the massive planets in which you are free to travel to outside of the main story. The game does have its negatives with repetitiveness throughout by having to frequently “retrace your steps” with no fast travel available.

Customisation options are a nice touch to the game, with the ability to change clothes, ship colour, lightsaber and more. You unlock these customisation options through opening chests, placed throughout each planet. There are lots of things to explore such as the double-bladed lightsaber to help with crowd control in overwhelming situations of combat. The game is pretty big with such vast planets and endless areas to venture through. A key element to success and ease is progressing through the skill tree, in which you unlock new moves and extra force and health. This is a common concept in multiple action-adventure games but works especially well with Fallen Order due to balanced skill point distribution.
