Avengers Infinity War Review:

*May contain minor spoilers*

Avengers Infinity War is the third instalment of the Avengers franchise and the 19th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The brilliant film sees nearly all superheroes coming together to face the threat of Thanos (Josh Brolin). The superheroes unite in an attempt to stop Thanos collecting all the Infinity Stones across the universe if he collects all of them he can use the Infinity Gauntlet to destroy half of humanity.

The fantastic directing from Joe & Anthony Russo creates an enjoyable and entertaining experience throughout the 2 hours and 40 minutes feature film. The superheroes consist of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-man (Tom Holland) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana). There are other characters also like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Captain America (Chris Evans), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). They are joined by many more fantastic characters to create the biggest superhero movie of all time. All the actors perform fantastically well and do not disappoint at any moment during the film.

The movie instantly grabs you within the first 10 minutes, creating an intense and gripping atmosphere that is consistent throughout the whole film. The Russo Brothers have done a brilliant job connecting all these different characters together and giving them fairly equal screen time. The film could be described as an incredible “balancing act” as it has multiple storylines that never become unbalanced or lost during the movie. They intertwine perfectly with each other never losing the audience’s focus.

The movie has multiple moments that build lots of tension leaving an audience on edge. Throughout the films, there are also a plethora of comedic scenes making characters like Dave Bautista (Drax) and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) stand out. Comic relief is also created through Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Thor’s relationship that is reinforced in Infinity War to create some really enjoyable moments. Many characters contribute with comedic dialogue to create a unique movie that not only focuses on action.

Emotion is heavily present throughout this one-of-a-kind cinematic experience. The actors in this film make the audience sympathise with their characters which constructs an interactive experience. One example can be seen through Iron Man and Spider-man’s relationship, in which Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is shown as being a father-figure to Spider-Man or Peter Parker (Tom Holland). This bond between them becomes stronger as the movie progresses and becomes one of the standout moments that has a heavy emotional impact on the audience. This is similar to Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) relationship that was touched upon in other movies but now reignited, massively engaging the audience. These two actors play an excellent role in provoking the audience to become touched and moved in their scenes together.

The special FX are truly unbelievable and appear to be very realistic. This can be seen through the CG character Thanos which has been created with such detail to create a more menacing villain. CGI is widely used during Infinity War but never disappoints, being used in scenery, multiple characters and much more.
